IP 90-5 Using hypermedia technology to support a new pedagogy of teacher education. Abstract The authors are currently engaged in a three-year research and development project designed to address the fundamental problems of preparing elementary teachers to teach mathematics for understanding. The primary funding for this project comes from the National Science Foundation. Based on an analysis of research on teaching, teacher thinking and teacher education, the authors argue that new technologies have the potential to contribute substantially to the improvement of teacher preparation programs.
